With over 30 years of extensive experience in the beauty industry, Hasblady comes from a long line of hairdressers – her mother, aunt and brother all share her deep love of great hair.
She relocated to the US from Bogota, Colombia in 1982 and quickly opened her extremely successful salon, Renaissance Hair Studio, at 21 years old. In 2002, she expanded by opening a second salon, Bokaos Aveda Pasadena- the recipient of immediate rave reviews- and eventually a third location followed in Glendale in 2008. In 2009, she moved all three businesses to one, beautiful loft-esque location in the heart of Old Town Pasadena.
Hasblady’s education has been ceaseless; she has always continued to learn and expand her knowledge with advanced training from the likes of Vidal Sassoon in London, Toni and Guy in Chicago, Arrojo in New York, Fekkai in Los Angeles and Carsten Wilms. She is also currently actively pursuing education in bridal make up artistry and airbrush techniques with make up giant MAC Cosmetics.
She has worked with many celebrity clients for print and television projects, and has a special love for the styling, extensions and updos that feed her creative soul. An expert bridal stylist, Hasblady is renowned for her delicate and feminine updos and styling.
Alfred began his career in beauty at the age of 18, almost 25 years ago. He started working alongside his sister after beauty school and they have been a dynamic duo ever since. He has expansive education with Aveda, Vidal Sassoon in London, Arrojo in New York, Toni and Guy and Carsten Wilms. With a vast clientele, Alfred is in high demand and his clients always leave feeling refreshed and revitalized.
Suzi hasn’t aged in 25 years: she is our resident vampire. Suzi truly is a master at her craft. Her honesty and loyalty are unfounded, making her a treasure here at Bokaos Aveda. When her bubbly personality walks into a room with her tiny puppy, Charlie, all eyes are on her.
Jan Marie is a skincare genius with over 9 years experience with Aveda. She has trained with Eminence, Dermalogica, Skinceuticals, but keeps coming back to Aveda because of her love of their holistic approach and environmentally conscious mission. Waxing and skincare are equally important to her and she is known for her painless waxing technique.
Farrah’s love of hair started in grade school, trying new things with her own hair and eventually convincing others to let her do theirs. She trained at the Aveda Institute Los Angeles and fell in love with their products as well as their mission statement. She grew up in a very holistic and nature loving family, so being a part of Aveda and their global contributions is very important to her. However, the training at Vidal Sassoon and Toni and Guy helped shape Farrah as a stylist. Being a stylist you never stop learning and she intends to seek out the betterment of her education through photo shoots and endless classes both in the country and abroad.
15 years ago, a punk rock/emo boy began experimenting on his own hair (as well as victimizing friends and family) after lackluster results from salons. Unable to see hair as a lucrative career, he spun his wheels as an EMT, then majored in communication and worked for a radio station. Dying for a creative outlet, friends at Sally Hershburger extended an olive branch. He quit his salary job to begin an accelerated apprenticeship program, specializing in color. He had the opportunity to work alongside renowned stylists such as Allen Edwards and assisted on Dancing with the Stars and Dior fashion shows. He became an educator for Unite and began working in Beverly Hills and Malibu where he mastered keratin bonded extensions. Today, Mitch works on-set for multiple Netflix shows, music videos, and retains celebrity clientele throughout Los Angeles. He enjoys donating his time cutting the homeless in Hollywood with stylists of Chris McMillan Salon. Mitch’s dream is to open an animal rescue. When he isn’t working, he can be found hiking or kayaking with his dogs, bungee jumping and enjoying live, eclectic music.
